Anglia Examinations has been based in Chichester, England, since 1994. Anglia offers a comprehensive and structured programme of assessing English language competence, from beginner through to full competence as an expert user. This step-by-step approach to testing encourages and motivates students to make clear and effective progress.
Anglia’s General English exams are divided into two suites of examinations, ie the Children’s Oral Tests of Achievement (three levels), which only have a speaking component, and the Integrated Skills Exams (ten levels), which measure all four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking. There are no minimum age requirements for the exams.
The Children’s Oral Tests of Achievement are taken by children as young as four years old. The two bottom levels of the Integrated Skills Exams (First Step & Junior levels) are taken by children who can read and write in English, whereas, all other higher levels within the suite can be equally taken by children, adolescents or adults. For two of the levels, Primary and Preliminary, we even provide a standard version, for candidates who are younger than 14 years old, as well as an adult version, for older teenagers and adults. The upper levels of the Integrated Skills Exams as well as the Business English Exams (4 levels) are taken by students and adults who plan to continue their studies at Higher Education Institutions or to improve their career prospects.
As for professional certification for teachers, Anglia offers C.I.T.E. (Certificate for International Teachers of English) examinations. They are designed to give competent teachers of English, who may or may not have any other English teaching qualifications, a chance to obtain international recognition for their language skills, knowledge and experience.
For those interested in translation, Anglia offers the International Qualification in Applied Translation, which consists of two separate and individually marked exams, ie, the Anglia Certificate in Applied Translation and the Anglia Diploma in Applied Translation. This qualification has been designed to equip candidates with the skills that will allow them to convey the meaning of the source text accurately in the target language, mirroring the information, ideas, opinions, cultural aspects and register expressed by the author.
